What is the best cable/satellite dish network for me? I reside in Northern California ?

I reside in northern california, more specifically oakland, ca, and we have decided to rid of our antennas and get cable. dont want anything too fancy, just basic cable along with discovery channel and espn and stuff like that. we dont need HBO or showtime or anything like that. we are currently paying $80 a month for DSL/Home phone. I’m not sure what I hit but now when I hit the channel up or down key it only goes through the basic stations, probably the 100 package. But I have more channels than that. I can punch in the number and other channels will come up.
